25 June 2018 ( Lagos ) : The week opens with ASI being back with a bang. The Nigerian Bourse closed in green today, after having a difficult last week, finally rose 0.34% and gave some respite to the investors.
This is mainly due to the heavy weight champion (
DANGCEM ) that grew 2.22%, this along with the rise in (
CCNN ) by 4.85%, was enough to overweigh the dip in (
WAPCO ) of 2.31%.
Drilling down to a sectorial level; dip in the bellwether stocks like (
SEPLAT ) by 4.99%, (
JAPAULOIL ) by 4.26% and (
OANDO ) by 3.05% led laggards in the oil and gas sector.
Whereas the Banking and Consumer goods industry shared some mixed sentiments today. While there were advances in (
STERLNBANK ) , (
ZENITHBANK ), (
GUARANTY ), (
STANBIC ) by 2.94%, 0.19%, 0.86%, 0.51% respectively ; stock like (
FIDELITYBK ), (
ACCESS ) and (
UBN ) dragged the sector down by shedding 2.63%, 2,4% and 0.85% respectively.
Similarly, while (
FLOURMILL ) and (
HONYFLOUR ) felt predominantly bullish today by gaining 0.16% and 2.39% respectively. Bears slayed the sector due to declines in (
DANGFLOUR ) by 1.43%, (
NESTLE ) by 0.33%, (
NB ) by 0.45% and (
GUINNESS ) by 0.51%.
Lastly, in the insurance sector, the dips in (
LINKASSURE ) by 4.65 and (
PRESTIGE ) by 4.55% outweighed the gain in (
LASACO ) by 5.88%.
