July 22 (Lagos) - The US has asked China to close its Houston, Texas consulate and the Chinese called the move an unprecedented escalation. People were seen destroying documents after they were asked to close the consulate while it is not clear what exactly was being destroyed by them. Fire service was called to the location.
US has also accused China of hiring private hackers to attack Companies conducting virus vaccine research. The US President has warned that the virus outbreak could get worse before getting better and urged people to start wearing masks.
Meanwhile countries like Australia and Belgium are reporting highest single day infections. Also infection cases are rising in Canada again
More than 600,000 people have died around the world since the Covid-19 pandemic began in Wuhan, China and spread all over the world. USA, Brazil and India are the worst affected countries in the world.
How does it affect Nigerian economy?
India is Nigeria's biggest crude oil buyer, and with its economy being mostly shut since March, the demand for crude oil has been greatly impacted. Now the economy is opening back up but with the infections surging, people are not stepping out of their homes unless it is necessary. All this is affecting India's demand for crude oil. Some states are considering further lock downs as infections are rising sharply throughout the country.
