Aug 17 (Lagos) - The bulls and bears are locked in an epic battle in the Nigerian stock market which is trying to be resurgent after years of declines that go back to the 2008-2009 market crash.
The memories of that time continue to haunt the bulls that are trying to come up. The bulls are willing to give Nigeria another chance to put things right. The re-capitalization of Banks and Insurance sector is a bid to fix things that were fixed 20 years back.
The bears on the other hand believe that there are management related issues in many companies in the financial sector that keep shareholders returns lower than where they ought to be. In this thought, there is no reason for Nigeria to require another re-capitalization exercise of the Banks in just 20 years. It shows to them that the sector is either very inefficient or is filled up with bad management.
At easykobo, we are on the bulls side for sure but we also acknowledge the bear thesis. We would like to see actual results in form of return of capital to shareholders to validate the bull's own.
