RIVERS displaces LAGOS as richest state   


Dec 17 (Lagos) - Crude oil rich, Rivers state in the East of Nigeria has just displaced commercial hub Lagos as the richest state of the Country according to Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) according to a report by BudgIT Nigeria, a civic tech organization. 


Kaduna, Enugu and Akwa-Ibom are the other three states that made up the top 5 on the list of richest states of the Country. 


Three of the richest states are in the East of Nigeria, a region that remains under-developed despite having most of the country's crude oil reserves. There are different reasons for the under-development of the area depending upon who you listen to.
