Oct 28 (Lagos) - Public-Private Members of the Private Sector-led Coalition Against COVID-19 (CACOVID) wish to call for calm, amidst the looting of COVID-19 palliatives meant for distribution in various State Government warehouses across the country.
The Coalition is deeply concerned by the recent events and is urging those involved in the wanton destruction of public and private property to immediately desist from these raids, in order to allow the States to proceed with peaceful and fair distribution of these palliatives to the neediest and most vulnerable in our society.
REACTION
Everyone saw looting of warehouses on live TV and is concerned about the delay in distribution of Food to the masses. It makes state governments seem ineffective and washes the efforts of the Federal Government down the drain.
At the same time the anger that erupted after the shooting at the Lekki-tollgates spilled into hoodlums taking over the cities in different parts of the country and Police running for their lives.
Army is trying to restore calm and order that CACOVID say is vital to their future food distribution timelines. It will help the general public if CACOVID would announce a schedule of good distribution so people can claim their palliatives in a civilized manner.
CACOVID needs to regain public trust and we all need peace and calm.
