21 September 2018 : Because lawmakers weren't troubling them enough, a new report brought to light that Google workers are planning of different ways to use the search engine giant to get their way, in this case their way is to push forward the pro-immigration organizations after Trump implemented a travel ban in January 2017.

Google employees discussed via internal messages ways that they could leverage the engine and manipulate search results to counter Trump's travel ban, according to the reports on Wall Street Journal. Their suggestion was to surface links to pro-immigration organizations and provide ways to reach out to government agencies when one searched for terms like "Islam" or" “Muslim."

Although google confirmed that none of the plans were actually implemented, and stressed that they have never modified their search results or products to promote a particular political ideology ,neither in the current campaign season, nor during the 2016 election, and definitely not in the aftermath of President Trump’s executive order on immigration. 

The report will most likely draw even more scrutiny into whether Google uses it's influential platforms to manipulate public opinion. The Trump administration has accused the company of using their engine to silence politically conservative voices, as well as make him look bad.

Moreover earlier this month while Facebook and Twitter both sent top decision-makers to testify before a congressional committee Google declined to send their CEO Sundar Pichai or Chairman Larry Page.
