Dangcem's bulls rescue the market, wish the investors a happy weekend   
20 July 2018 ( Lagos ) : Finally a sprinkle of rain after a 6-day draught.The equity sector shares a very special relationship with mid-day, despite opening on a negative note today, the NSEASI surged by mid-day, finally closing at green, gaining 0.37%. After trending on a downward spiral throughout the week, market closed the week on a bullish note.

Wresting champion ( DANGCEM ) came to rescue, appreciating by 2.04%. Other blue chip companies joined the bandwagon and pulled the market out of the canyon, wiz; ( ZENITHBANK ) rose by 0.22%, ( NB ) surged by 1.8%. Some mid-weight companies also showed stellar performances, with ( FBNH ), which was amongst the top 10 index movers of last year, surged by 2.84% today, along with ( STANBIC ) that grew by 2.52%. ( UNILEVER ) also grew by 0.29% following their positive H1'2018 results declaration. ( OANDO ) which is the largest listed energy company in Nigeria, grew by 6.73%,   despite all the court confrontation the firm is going through.

Talking about the firms that led laggards, from a sectorial standpoint, The consumer goods segment was largely bearish today, following declines in ( NESTLE ) by 0.85%, ( INTBREW ) by 4.34%, ( DANGFLOUR ) by 4.21%, ( FLOURMILL ) by 1% and ( DANGSUGAR ) by 9.23% . 

The advances in the Banking sector outweighed the dip in ( UBA ) of 1.55%. Similarly, the advances in ( OANDO ) , ( FO ) by 3.33% overshadowed the dips in ( ETERNA ) of 5.8% and ( JAPAULOIL ) by 8.82%.

( CCNN ) was the top gainer of the day, surging by 8.26%, and hence the decline in ( WAPCO ) by 4.41% was outweighed.

In terms of performance of the NSE- market indices, the index stands at an overall YTD loss of 4.29%.In terms of shares being traded, ( STERLNBANKrecorded the highest volume of 317 million traded shares, followed by ( MEDVIEWAIR (100m), ( ZENITHBANK ) (64.93m) and ( LAWUNION ) (50.07m).
